SERVICES OFFERED: GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN COMMUNICATIONS, CONTENT CREATION
As a volunteer communications strategist, I partnered with the campaign team to create social media content that reflected Elmer Roldan's lived experience growing up in the community he was running to represent. The campaign's messaging centered on people, not politics, using Elmer's personal story to connect broader policy priorities to the everyday experiences of District 9 residents. My role focused on translating that messaging into engaging social-first content across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, helping create a consistent digital presence that highlighted community voices, neighborhood events, campaign priorities, and opportunities for civic engagement. I also incorporated the campaign's people-first messaging into fundraising content, shifting donation asks toward investing in community leadership and a shared vision for the future of District 9.

What I learned
One of my biggest takeaways from this campaign was seeing how much of a difference the right framing can make. Instead of leading with politics, we led with a person's connection to the community they wanted to serve. That shift made the content feel more human, more relatable, and ultimately more engaging. It's a reminder that behind every campaign, organization, or issue are people, and that's where I always try to begin.
